Hi all! As you all know, my name is Jessica and I am preparing to be a wife in the very near future! As I am working to continue in my journey to wifehood, I wanted to share some updates.
I am getting married in a year. I am super excited, super stressed, and super busy. Wedding planning is not for the weak let me tell you that! I am continuing to wedding plan and getting all my ducks in a row. Finding a venue and vendors is not easy. I have cried more within the last two weeks than I swear I have in the last 12 months.
With that being said, your girl needs to self-soothe. I tend to fall into more unhelpful habits when I am stressed and overwhelmed. And as I said, wedding planning is not for the weak, so I need to be intention in the way I care for myself.
Here are some things that I am currently doing during this seasons of prepping for wifehood:
Book Reading
I am consistently wanting to grow as a individual, as a Christian, as a therapist, and as a future wife. Here are my current reads:
Sacred Marriage
This book is by Gary Thomas. It is a book that asks the question if marriage is meant to make us holy, instead of just making us happy. Gary Thomas writes about how marriage can help us grow closer to each other and grow closer to God.

You and Me Forever: Marriage in Light of Eternity
This book is by Francis and Lisa Chan. This book takes a eternal perspective in the sense of our earthly marriages are temporary, and our mindset should be about growing in our relationship with the Lord as we continue to grow in our relationship as a couple.

Focusing on Physical Health
I have been focusing on my physical health. This looks like a multitude of things, including keeping up with my supplements, exercising/lifting weights, and slowly but surely eating better. This is mainly for myself as I work to maintain my health, but also so I have a long and happy, healthy marriage. God blessed me with my body, I should continue to take care of it.
Giving Myself Grace
Last and certainly not least (honestly this is probably the most important of them all right now), giving myself grace. We need a little self-compassion in our lives. It is easy to be kind to others in comparison to being kind to ourselves. Ask yourself, what would a friend say about this situation? Am I being a friend to myself or a bully?
While giving myself grace, I gotta self-soothe too. If you all would like some self-soothing techniques while working to be a bride and a wife, my newsletter will provide different tools and such.
If you’d like my resources I have created regarding goals and working on yourself throughout marriage, sign up for my newsletter.
Besides that, you all are great. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and God bless.
Love, Jess.
